Falmouth District Court Presents: Strategies for Successful Probation - Best Practices for Representing Clients with Sustance Use Disorders and Mental Health Conditions

OVERVIEW

In recognition of the October 2023 SJC Standards on Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health Conditions, the Falmouth District Court will be hosting an informational training to address available community resources and provide an overview of probation’s role in accessing resources. As the SJC points out, substance abuse, mental health conditions and trauma are contributing factors in most cases we see in the district court, including many civil cases. The goal of this program is to provide attorneys and court personnel an overview of types of treatment available, an opportunity to meet providers in person, learn specifically what the program’s requirements are for admission and how to apply for placement or treatment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Understanding ACRONYMS and common vocabulary of the court room for treatment planning

• Accessing treatment options and identifying appropriate referrals

• Meeting representatives from agencies throughout the region and learn about resources that are not so well known.

PARTICIPANTS

• PROBATION OFFICERS
• ATTORNEYS
• ASSISTANT DA’s
• POLICE LIAISONS
• COURT PERSONNEL
• SERVICE PROVIDERS
• RECOVERY COURT STAFF
