Dear Members, I hope that everyone is experiencing a happy and healthy start to 2024! The BCBA Board has been busy these last several months in both visible and behind-the-scenes ways to better serve you, our members, and our greater community. And, the best news is, we are just getting started!

Dear Members and Colleagues, We made it to Spring! It seems as if a return to normalcy is on the horizon. All criminal proceedings in the Superior Court are in-person. The Barnstable Probate and Family Court is returning to in-person hearings as of June 1. Finally, I am happy to report that our Annual Meeting this year will be in-person as well. I hope you can all join us for our Annual it on Thursday, June 9, 2022. This is our first in-person meeting since the start of the pandemic!

Dear Members, Many of you I’ve had a chance to see and work with over my several years as a litigator and at the Barnstable Probate and Family Court. For those who I have not had the pleasure of working with, I look forward to doing so in the future. It is good to be back here at the Barnstable County Bar Association, and I appreciate the leadership of our Board, our officers, our outgoing President, Ingrid Epperly, and our new Executive Director, Bruce Blackwell, who does not have easy shoes to fill.

Dear Members, This President’s Message is dedicated to our beloved Madeleine Delorey, who passed away on March 10, 2021. Our tireless Executive Director for 31+ years, Madeleine was the quiet driving force behind the Barnstable County Bar Association. Over time, and unbeknownst to many of us, her job description grew pages long, and she rose to every challenge.
